Everyday it feels a little

Inside my home it is warm, dry and free from snow.  Outside however ....

Yep, it's beginning to look a LOT like Christmas a very White Christmas!

Things we use everyday, like cars are stuck......

Marvin and Carly wait to get their coats on, although actually I think they are rather hoping they might get mistaken for reindeers!

It feels like we have stepped back in time!

which is something that doesn't happen everyday and we should think of it as a treat
having all of this really beautiful white snow,
is such a treat as I get to watch the delight on Dexter's face as he gets to play in it.
Everyday of this past week
and that is magical.

    Communist Villans!

    Lies and spies.....
Vladimir Ulyanov KGB assassin - at large!

There is something about being surrounded by all this snow makes me think of Poland in the 1960's/1970's - cold war spy's and communist plots!  Maybe it is my over active imagination, but at the Richard Demarco talk (Richard was really friendly with the likes of Joseph Beuys - the German Andy Warhol who actually lived in Edinburgh for a while) I went to the other day, brought out some real characters who I think all had a cold war spy look to them!

Comrade Borowski - KVD Analyst - in custody!

I have not seen Richard for many years (he is now 80), and the last time I did (about 18 years ago) he took me to see his portrait in the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh (which Anders thought was really funny as he and I were newly weds and now remarks "Joanna's milkshake brings all the granddad's to the yard" - how nice!!!)... think it was because Richard knew I had Polish roots so he took a shine to me!

Simon Bloch - Stasi Informant - been turned!
Here is my Mum in the back celebrating a cold war Christmas!

    Beautiful blizzards

It is so pretty outside - yes it is cold, yes it is causing mayhem, yes it would be so much better if the Scotland and the UK was more organised to cope with it, but it still is pretty.

And the snow just keeps on coming!

I took these photos on Sunday, and although the steps were cleared, they no longer are, in fact in city centre Edinburgh we have had about a 6 inches of snow since then.  The main roads you can drive along, but most of the cars (including our own) which are situated on the side roads are stuck.  The shops are very low on food too and it is starting to feel like we might just have rationing introduced!  I know, rationing!

    Housekeepers Box

    Housekeepers Sweeper

Sweeping the street clear of snow

It is starting to feel like we are going back in time.....

    Kindred spirits of the snow...

I took these photos on Friday night, and since then, the snow just has not stopped snowing each and every day.  Schools have closed even the Forth Road Bridge on Wednesday, so my kindred citizens of Edinburgh are all joined together by the snow!

    Sergeant Ice

This picture reminded me of a cool 1960's band type image.  It is of my lovely Dexter (part of my job description to constantly repeat how wonderful he is!) who just inspires me and makes me smile each and every day.  Everything is frozen, and my camera lets me capture these moments too and freeze them in time.

Winter is here and the snow has really fallen, and with it has made beautiful thin ice which we were amazed at.  It was so fragile and beautiful

and was only slightly thicker than the leaves which got trapped in bits of it - so so delicate.

Snow doesn't fall in November here in Scotland, so it is nice to celebrate its beauty.  Dexter, he is stunning all year round (told you, part of my job description to celebrate his loveliness!) - if he reads this he will partly be really happy and partly be embarrassed (again part of the job spec!) - I love being his Mum.... and now lets hear a song that Dexter, Anders and I love.....
