Fire Engines....

These are the beautiful nickel plated attachments that go onto the end of fire hoses.....

The fire brigade were having an open doors day, and three of their fire engines were out on display, this very old one that is no longer used and two more modern ones that are in use.

The outside of this fire engine was beautiful as you would expect, but the thing that I thought was the most beautiful and for me a big surprise was the amazing attachments that went onto the end of the hoses. They looked like a nickel city housed in their own special compartment.

I know who's got Saddam Hussein...

It's The Monkeys! Yep those cheeky 4 are really monkeying around.... Don't believe me listen to this song and particularly these lyrics - you'll see.

We're just trying to be friendly
Come and watch, sing and play
We're the young generation
And we've got Saddam Hussein

Now for some festival stuff. Do you want to know what we are up to tomorrow?

Well the thing we have planned for me is terrifying as I am very scared of heights! That said, it is all in the mind, and it is an experience that I know I would regret missing so I am going to just put my trust in the two main men in my life, Anders & Dexter as I don't want to be the woos of the family! You want a sneak peek of what I am going to do? Look up:

Indian Summer

Anders, Dexter and I have just been having a bbq in the garden before we go off to see Shrek 3 in 3D. We were listening to Asha Bhosie on CD, and this first song just cannot help but turn a summer evening into an Indian Summer evening and start dancing....

Asha Bhosie copied this original version which is also fantastic (and having seen both I prefer the older version video).

And then as we were driving to see Shrek 3, this was playing on the radio so we boogied in the car too.

Shrek 3 was fantastic, a sort of cartoon version of It's a Wonderful Life....

Oh lets have a boogie

Well I was inspired by a piece I read on Leigh vs Laundry (click my "I am Funny" award to see her site) in which she described how she used to get down and boogie, slapping her ass! I had a good old laugh at what she had written so ended up listening to lots of old music that I used to dance to.

So here are 10 to get you in the mood too! These are not necessarily my favourites (there are way too many great songs out there for different reasons), but I think these are great and bring back memories for me anyway.

Now my taste is eclectic many genre's in this lot so here are a few that perhaps you might listen to and start slapping your ass to too!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-NGlOB4hJA - Kid Creole & The Coconuts

Gosh this one I just remember how I used to dance to Kid Creole wanting to be one of the Coconuts

.... and let's come more up-to-date with one that every time I hear I just want to start dancing:

And, if you have had a good time dancing to the above, then tonight really will be a good night! So dance .........

You have about 1/2 an hour here of different songs to listen to if you fancy - so perhaps it is a good workout too! Thank you Leigh for the inspiration.

It's Friday - and this one is for you....

Nothing funny about this, it is pure genius.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHoI5HRluag&feature=related

Look up this link to you tube, it is of an amazing accordion player in the US, and then see his other stuff - Kombrig1941

I for some time have had a strong pull towards learning to play the accordion, and have now started. Those of you who know me might think "you, playing the accordion!", well yes sirree, I am in love with this instrument..... Turns out much to my surprise, that it is in the genes! My real father apparently played it (queue Twilight music!!!!).....

A Swedish Serenade - or is it!?

Saw this in the window of a local charity shop and thought "what a bizarre thing", and with Gracie Fields it is bound to be strange & kitch! Took a photo of it, along with some other strange ones (e.g. Two Girls & One Sailor) and did a google search on it (the other one brings up dodgy sites so lets not go there....).

Anyway, what a bizarre film extract I found which you must look at because it is wierd and funny.

Let me know your thoughts, in a strange way I think it is great and am thinking about how I else I could use it, certainly brought a smile (and "what the hell is this") expression to my face. The part towards the end of the reel I think is particularly surreal, mesmerizing in fact!!!
