A fleeting glimpse of joy....

Looking for something good to not pass by,
Making you think, what if, maybe or why,
The g-force of joy spreads across a face as it begins to giggle.
These are moments of joy I never want to rush by :-)

Arthur Seat

Arthur Seat is an extinct volcano, and whilst hundreds of years ago it was on the outskirts of Edinburgh, now it falls well and truly within the city boundaries, and is in fact right on the doorstep of Holyrood Palace.  It is a beautiful place and we often go there with Marvin and Carly who love to run up and down the hills on it.
The sun is now back, so it feels like summer again, yay!
This series of photos, I took on Tuesday evening between 6.45pm and 7.15pm when Anders, Dexter and I went there with Marvin and Carly.

Family gatherings.....

This weekend, Dexter saw his Uncle Jonny and Auntie Laura who were both over from NY before going to France to see Ander's parents.  This was the first time since Jonny got married 3 years ago today to Laura that all three brothers were together and it was so lovely.
Even though we are not always together like this, there is still a closeness that connects us together. We just need to think of each other and remember that we are never really that far apart from our loved ones. We just need to think of them.
When I snapped these pictures, that is what sprang to mind, and it made me smile and think of my own family who unlike Anders and Dexter, are not close to hand.
Dexter loves being part of a larger family it gives him a sense of belonging.  I remember it was important to me as a child too and I wish I had known my Grannies and Grandads, even Aunties and Uncles for that matter too. I remember how other children my age had a sense of union with their cousins which I yearned for too, so I completely understand why it is important to Dexter, and I am so glad he has this, especially as he does not have a sibling. Kids need that sense of belonging, and we all do at some level I think, we all need is to be loved and know we are part of some special unit that we can hold onto and remember in our hearts and minds.
Happy 3rd Anniversary Laura & Jonny
To many more happy years in the future.....

Y is for....

.... lots of things, and I liked the mystery of it all so what does it matter?

Here is another picture which made me ponder on whether it might be the start of a story and there were a few stories it made me think of!  One went along the lines of..... Once upon a time there was a secret doorway on a beautiful lake which was only activated if the life ring at the end of the path was thrown into the water, and only then if you dived through it and the under water.
To get to the lake however, where this doorway stood was quite a trek. You could only get there by fighting your way through a wood full of tangled branches, a bit like in the story of sleeping beauty.
One dark and stormy day, the clouds began to gather above all the chimney pots in a menacing manner.....

to many this seemed worrying, to me they were something to admire and watch. It is quite something to see the sky get this excited and anxious all at the same time, or at least I think so!

So what do you use when you are excited and anxious about something unexpected and big happening? You bring out the old Mamiya Press Camera!
This old press camera showed courage, intrigue and guts.  This old press camera used to be ostentatious, but now, well it was refined with its ivory coloured bakalite grip handle. This beauty however had more style and bling now than any Paparazzi could capture when out shooting. This marvel was one now to feature in a DC Detective comic series or something cool and interesting like that!
One of my new toys....YAY!

Two kids playing....

I thought these two kids looked great playing on this fence they had a timeless feeling to what they were doing, yet of course looking at what they are wearing you can see it is modern, but otherwise.....

It is one of the reasons I ran up to their mum (when I saw them out of the corner of my eye) to ask if I could take their picture, she said "yes", and I am glad because I like this photograph :-)
