Addicted to the sea.....

From a young age he could swim
so nothing else but a sea life was for him.

Inspired by pirates and treasure
to be at one with the sea he thought would be such a pleasure

Adventure was therefore his vice
Losing two arms still didn't suffice

His desire to be one with the sea

He still haunts it and from it will never be free.....

the long road

Ghost of a lighthouse

The lighthouse which once was so ship shape and Bristol fashion
That could tell tales that would compete with ones from grandest of mansions

The sailor that once stood to attention
was now too scary to mention

Through the lens of the glass things look distorted and different
or is it in the way our mind portrays it?

Love to hang around with you...

We believe in you Dexter

Sometimes I wonder what it is like being Dexter, just hanging around....
I just love watching him in his wonderful life

He is my beacon of hope and happiness,
May his horizons span far and wide

May he find great adventures everywhere

May he always want to hang around with his two Kooks that made him. He is best recipe we made together and is something which just keeps on getting better and better as he ages!

Oh to be my boy, he is a complete joy....

A magnificent lighthouse, Chapter 3

Firstly a song to set the scene for this connection, this romance, this love which you can listen to as you read on!

Anders, Dexter and I have connected in some way to Lighthouse. We have heard his voice, we have seen his sorrow and we have felt his joy we have been united in play. Even though he is run down, he still provides a safe haven, a place to escape and feel alive. A place where we can explore, pretend and be still; a place we can enjoy, embrace and ponder; a place we can just be whatever we like.

Yes Lighthouse might be in a state of disrepair, a mess, but we don't mind that, in fact it adds to his charm. We have heard his communications loud and clear.

Lighthouse may feel frustrated that he cannot protect the ships he so wants to protect, or that he cannot wink to the many feminine ships which sail past.

He still loves all those beautiful sassy ships be that the small petite ones or the amazonian war tankers, he loves them all. It is because of his love of them that he fears what will become of them if he is to keep his feminine shores of Scotland unnoticed in the dark of night!

His lights are broken, his sirens don't work anymore, but he cares, he so deeply cares.

The way Anders cares for Dexter and ensures he is safe as together they climb and explore this magnificent lighthouse who we love very very much.

The way I care for both Anders and Dexter as I watch them climb back to me across the makeshift bridge that takes them from ground level to the roof to further exploration and back again to the safety of my arms.

This unity and solidarity we feel leaves us feeling alive and fulfilled and wanting more.

We are connected as a family and as a family and as individuals we have connected this lighthouse. Lighthouse has left a strong imprint on us so in a way we are also a lighthouse family!

Chapter 3 of A magnificent lighthouse has been inspired by the word "connect" which is this weeks Sunday Creative.

I have really fallen in love with this lighthouse which has resulted in me writing all about it! If you want to see more, just look at the stuff I have done this month which have been inspired by my visit to it.

A story of a magnificent lighthouse, Chapter 2

Some music to listen to whilst you read and will set the scene

Lighthouse was grumpy, he was grumpy that Anders, Dexter and I had gone. He thought that we had been humouring him, that we maybe were not as excited at exploring him even though we had said we were. He thought maybe our last visit was the only one we would have, that our delight in being with him was something that would be short lived, so he started to drink. He was sinking, and was going to drown himself in Gin!

Lighthouse was someone who had been refined, so he had standards. He didn't completely see himself as a cliche of the sea so he wasn't going to have dark rum like the sailors did! He had also not sunk so low that he going to just drink some cheap Buckfast, no, he had standards, he drank Gin & Tonic!

That said, he realised that times had changed, you could see it in his new grunge look which he was adjusting to, you could see it in the way he no longer drank his Gin & Tonic in a glass with ice and lemon! He now had a drink from a can, a green can, but at least it was a quality brand! It might not have been Bombay Gin, but it was Gordon's. Lighthouse still had standards, he still had manners, he still wanted to be seen as having taste and not just some run down bum.

Then he realised he was being stupid. They said we were going to come back he thought to himself and deep down he knew we would. So he decided to stop drinking and instead have a packet of crisps so as to look like he had not just picked up a G&T for the sake of numbing his feelings!

He now felt happy again, he had the salt of the sea on his skin inside and out and he felt alive, literally alive! The message on the wall was clear when we saw it there plain as day, he was talking to us and telling us he was there we just needed to look for the signs!

He was happy that and we were listening to his inner soul. Lighthouse knew he had value and he started to bellow it from his foghorns. He didn't care they no longer worked, he was going to shout out loud as he knew he would be heard - he was special, he was exciting, he was adventure, he was imagination, he was belief, he was shelter, he was anything you wanted him to be - and hopefully positive!

Lighthouse dreamt he was someone, and he was. His soul started to elevate to a higher plane......

He had lived, he had loved, he had partied, he had saved he was magical and he was adventure on the high seas and he shouted out loud "I absolutely love you" to anyone who could hear him or see his writing on his walls.....

.... "I absolutely love you" not only was this was to life it was to himself it was to all those who visited him, it was to all those who felt they were part of him.

He stood proud and majestic once again and from a distance you couldn't tell he was really a tattooed sea dog and past his prime. We knew he had once been Roger Moore/James Bond handsome and we loved him, yep we absolutely love him too!

I don't normally write stories, I am sure you can tell if you have been reading this, but I have fallen in love with this lighthouse, and I have more pictures to post, and therefore more to write about this Lighthouse. I do hope however that if you are reading this you are enjoying it and you are very welcome to read what I have done before or will post in the coming days and we have already been back and will do so again, and again, and again!!!

PS - I won't just write about Lighthouse, promise!!!

A story of a magnificent lighthouse..... Chapter 1

Some Tom Waits music to set the scene....

He had guarded the shores and the ships for so many years, but now he was retired, obsolete and grumpy. He remembered the time when he was polished and kept pristine, ready for inspection, ready to face whatever challenge was put in front of him, but now he felt dark clouds around him and his beautiful light which shone for miles was smashed up and broken.

But yet, within the walls, you could sense that he had been happy, little glimpses of smiles from within, in the corners, just when you least expected....

As despite the fact that he was run down, he had found new admirers who had claimed him to be the symbol of their gang, "our patch", and now mine as I had fallen in love, in love with a majestic, if not shabby old man of the sea. No longer would he be grumpy with the occasional terrets syndrome thrown in to let everyone know about it! No, he was far better, he was an adventure, he was so many stories, so many inspirations.

And despite his engines being all clogged up, he was still beautifully handsome and always would be.

He had found a new found love, with those who knew how to let go, explore, have fun and be youthful which filled him up with pride. Having been ship shape and Bristol fashion in hindsight was too rigid. Yes, it got him the admiring glances but they were for a purpose, a useful purpose but actually very sterile. Now it was anything goes and his new look said just that. Oh yes, his new grunge look was way more scary than the pristine white walls - no way Neptune was going to mess with him now as he was already Ramboed up! Deep down he really knew that. He knew he was much cooler and that made him want to dance and sing and play guitar and anything else that he wasn't supposed to do!

He then realised as he stopped being grumpy that he was actually getting younger, and that it was his grumpy behaviour that was making him feel old and unloved. He was doing it to himself!!! How stupid, especially when he clearly was appreciated and useful. He had never stopped being this, but now it was to a different set of people, ones that appreciated him rust and all...

He then realised he actually liked his new Vivienne Westwood appearance and he was carrying it off well, like the Dame herself!

And now he would exterminate anyone who would get in his way in his new found look! He was now Dalek enemy of Dr Who (well not really Dr Who's enemy he was just jealous he was not the Tardis as he was way cooler than the blue police box)! He was Dalek or anything else someone cared to think of as he was adventure, imagination and so much more so long as he was looked at and visited.

Anders, Dexter and I just love him, he is a fantastic find and will hang out some more with our new found friend as he is just inspirational in so so many ways.
