Well if I did have that money to spend, then that would be worth dancing to!

As Dolly at Xmas Dolly kindly asked me to have a spotlight dance over at her blog, I am going to put up 5 songs that take me back to the 80's - oh, when I think about the 80's, it was all about extravagance, so I am going indulge myself with 5 songs (ha, ha, ha, ha, ha)!!!

Hard to keep your hands off that sort of money!

Well "Word Up" it is literally £2,000,000 in £20 sterling notes!

I couldn't think of a favourite song, nope, I couldn't have just a few records to take with on a desert island - way too many. Like that answer or not, take me as you find me, love me, hate me but as the last song says:-

"I am what I am"!!!

I am sure we could all do a lot of things with that money so I hope you find the 5 chosen spotlight songs worthy of gyrating some hips and fantasising! :-)

Running up that hill, playing in the wood

We took Dexter and his pal Ben to the woods to play, and they had an absolute blast. Running through the woods, up the side of the banks, sliding down on their bums and tree branch fighting pretending they were swords.

1st Football Match!

This is photos from Dexter's first ever football match for his school. It happened Saturday morning. Their first match of the season against St Mary's Primary and all the boys were so so excited. This is his team getting their first (and only) instruction - they didn't manage to get a rehearsal play yesterday because it rained (not that I am sure it would have made that big a difference)!

God love them, they tried so hard and were so excited and it was so lovely to watch. Ben & Dexter, best friends playing together on the same side and all of them happy to be playing (and pretending to be professionals).

It was so funny to watch, two own goals, not knowing which spot they would have been best playing, they did really well to not get slaughtered as the other side seemed a lot more prior coaching and were therefore co-ordinated and knew how to play as a team, always a good thing!

The other side however did win but only 12 goals to 11 goals - but even though they were defeated I was very proud that they managed to do so well.....

The boys felt they had played a good match (always a good thing), and I am now a football mum (never thought I would ever utter those words, ha, ha), and despite not winning, they took it really well and everyone went away happy (not as happy as they would have had they won, but happy nonetheless!)

A bit more practice and who knows......(oh my word, I am sounding like a football Mum!!!) - but being there for Dexter makes me and Anders happy.

The other favourite photograph I have of depicting buddies is this one below, that one and the one I posted the other day under the title Dexter's Best Buddy is back. The two photographs I think just some up best buddies well and both Dexter and I cannot decide which is the better of the two! So as we are allowed to post one entry each, he said he would put this one up for the competition. Will one of them make the final all best buddy example, will one of them win the overall title and cement that they are indeed a shining example of best buddies? - I am laughing as I write this as I just think the whole thing is really sweet and all kids love competitions so rather apt too!

The embrace alone even looks like they are entwined in one big lovin' heart!

A hard rain's gonna fall......

Having been a beautiful day, we decided to go for a walk through the Gosforth Estate but no sooner had we arrived the heavens opened and it rained, and rained and rained.

Anders who had not brought a jacket got to use Bill's large umbrella as Bill had a waterproof jacket with hood - sensible!

Luckily too, we had waterproof jackets for both boys in our car and Bill had a hat in his car which Ben borrowed.

Dexter improvised by using the silver bowl we have in the car to give Marvin & Carly water!!!

Both Ben & Dexter were then quite at home in this country estate which was really beautiful, but this post is to show the importance of being prepared and what happens if you are not.....

So what about me I hear you asking! Was I prepared!!! Yes and No. I did have a waterproof running jacket which I wore, but it didn't have a hood. Bill therefore suggested I wrap a lovely blue scarf that he had around my head, which I did and the consequence was that the dye ran and I ended up looking like Veruca Salt from Willie Wonka, either that or having had a very bad old lady blue rinse!!!

Guess what I will keep in the car from now on!!!!

That said, the walk was absolutely beautiful and the sites we saw..... well all in good time, all in good time - like all good stories!!!

Dexter's Best Buddy is back

Dexter has a best friend who has spent the last year in Japan. The day he left to go there last year Dexter cried - he was heartbroken, his world had collapsed!

But on the 27th July, Ben returned, and today they were reunited in play. We took them both out to an adventure playground, for a walk in a wood, to the beach and lots and lots of ice cream, hot chocolates, cake and fun - they had a great time as did Anders, Marvin, Carly & I.

Here they are slurping on hot chocolates after having been swimming in the sea and I love this shot as it is one that can convert to every person who has had a good old drink of something with a great friend. Now, this will be my entry, but Dexter should have his own so I will let him chose once he has seen all of the photo's I took of their reunion which should be by Wednesday!

of course they pulled faces, told jokes and chatted away the way two best friends do....

but more importantly, they revelled in the fact that despite having been apart for a year, they still were indeed the best of friends.....

I have a lot of great captures of this reunion date, but here are a few to be going on with wonder which one Dexter will think depicts him and his best buddy best of all?!

Just the 2 of us!

You know, there is nothing nicer than seeing two best friends having so much fun playing together and that is what Saturday was all about - having fun and being with friends and those you really love.

After a giggle at being tickled by Ben burying Dexter, it was time for him to relax before pretending to rise from the grave like a Mummy with the 2 of them snorting in excitement at their jokes!

Ben too wanted to be buried and so started by seeing if he could do it this way to be a bit more creative....

....but that took too long so did it the traditional way and then Anders and I helped and got him to the required burial arrangement!

Of course there is nothing like awakening your senses after an old fashioned sand burial than running into the cold sea!

Having been apart for a whole year whilst Ben was in Japan made this reunion all the sweeter - they are just such good friends - awww, bless them! Both were so delighted to be playing with each other in person - Skype was great but this is so so much better!

Having washed off all the sand, played about running backwards and forwards to the water, into the water and back, it was time to warm up and stop shivering!

So we gave them warm towels and walked to the local cafe where we all had either cappuccini or hot chocolate and cakes which worked a treat - as did the sun which came out just in time to dry and warm this pair up too!
