This has been a really hard couple of weeks for me to do with my stepfather, he is back in hospital again (thankfully), I got him admitted on Friday after finding him at home, blue and having real difficulty breathing. This is a man with vascular dementia in addition to a whole catalogue of other health related problems who I was continuously told by his biological kids that he was being well looked after in his own home and to back the hell off! That said, whilst these last two weeks have been hard there have also pockets of joy too, firstly getting him into the hospital where he is being well looked after. Within a matter of reaching there, you could see him calming down and starting to look better when Anders and I got him into hospital. Clearly he needs to be in a place where there are people 24/7, something I have been saying for at least the last 2 years but now the walls seem to be coming in on him now with all the catalogue of medical problems wrong with him...
...Anyway, the drawing Dexter did of him whilst in the hospital is fantastic and made me smile and beam with pride. It really does look like his Jadek and Jadek was thrilled to get it (albeit we are not totally sure he understands it is a portrait of him!). Dexter too is really happy to know his Jadek is somewhere where he is safe, and I am now trying to ensure that he is put in a proper care facility that is nice.
Anders and Dexter have really tried to de-stress me this weekend and take my mind off things, can you believe I couldn't be bothered on Sunday taking a photograph! That said I did, I ended up taking lots just have not them developed yet. However here is a happy piece of machinery in a lovely bakery that I saw, how could I not smile back and let in some colour!
So the constraints of Jadek's system slowly seem to be showing more blue sky but I know there is going to be some battles ahead, thank goodness for having happy focuses though otherwise you would go crazy too!
Some really beautiful shots you got here!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a difficult time...glad to hear things are settling down for the best.
ReplyDeleteThat drawing is really quite amazing for his age...he seems to have a natural gift, eh?
Your images are so pretty-I really like those of the buildings especially.
xoxo
Sorry you are going through this but glad you got your step dad into a good place. Love the shots of the building.
ReplyDeleteI love the smiling bakery machine! Especially the color one, as I love the shades.
ReplyDeleteHope your father-in-law gets well situated soon.

PS. Forgot to mention your son's amazing art talent. Wow!

I'm so sorry you've had to go through this, but I'm also glad he has you to make sure he is getting the care he needs. You are all in my thoughts and prayers
ReplyDeleteWow, what a huge burden to carry. You are such a nurturing person to help him despite his children.
ReplyDeleteI love that you took the time to find happiness still!
