Gung Hay Fat Choy and homage to Basquiat's Red Kings

This is the first day of the Chinese New Year.
Today is the start of the year of the Rabbit.
 Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Flowering Chinese money plant
We set off fireworks at midnight in our back garden.  I took a video from the balcony of them.

Now, the Chinese believe that red and gold are auspicious colours and they feature largely in their celebrations.

With this in mind, today's
Homage to Basquiat is Red Kings from 1981
This painting has both red and gold in it!  First let me show you the original....

  2. Happy New Year to you both, hope the year of the Rabbit is a really good year.

Great way to start it, really loud fireworks (apparently to scare off demons and bad spirits of the past) and bright colours. Really happy and cheerful;-)
